Tim Chester is the Owner of Montana Solar Solutions, LLC. He got his start in solar photovoltaic systems in 1991 while a member of the US Coast Guard. He serviced remote lighthouses and floating aids to navigation buoys with battery-based solar systems in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. He retired from the USCG in 2012. Tim has an AAS in Energy Technology from Missoula College, where he also taught several energy technology courses from 2014-17. He also has attended Solar Energy International and has received his Residential and Commercial Photovoltaic Systems Certificate, Battery-Based Photovoltaic Systems Certificate, Solar Business and Technical Sales Certificate, Solar Water Pumping Certificate, and the Solar Professionals Trainer Certificate. Tim is experienced in residential and commercial photovoltaic systems as well as battery-based photovoltaic systems. He has installed solar PV systems throughout Montana and the Pacific Northwest.

Tim and his wife Cheryl live near Missoula, along with their dog Gabe and cats Willow and Emily. When he’s not working on solar projects, Tim and Cheryl can be found picking huckleberries in their ‘secret spots’, fishing and hunting in Western Montana, and dancing at the Sunrise Saloon.
